The building my of my Twenty was inspired by finding Chris Heg and Sheldon Brown’s bikes at BikeForums.net. Without them, and the help of the many other Twentynauts none of my build would have been possible.

Shown below are some thumbnails and links for some of the best from the growing global fold of Raleigh Twenties on the web:
Other Twenties
Chris Heg’s ‘Super Modified’ Twenty
The bike that (for me) started it all. Chris is a top guy and has helped me out on several occasions with Twenty queries, and has a great site full of pictures and information about his ever changing Twenty setup. He’s just bought a new (well another) one too so expect some updates soon...

Sheldon Brown’s ‘Hot Rod’ Twenty
There can’t be many internet-using cyclists that haven’t been to Sheldon’s site. He and John Allen are up there as the first evangelists of the Raleigh Twenty’s merits and his pages on the several Twenties he owns are indispensable reading for anyone embarking on a project Twenty.

Carey Chen’s ‘Hot Rod’ Twenty
I don’t know too much about this one beyond what is said about it on Mark Drumbent’s site, but I love the conversion, yellow paint-job,and handllebars.

John S. Allen’s dependable Twenty
John first souped up his $35 Twenty up in 1979 with long seat-post, drop bars and a 5 speed hub gear setup. He links to my Twenty saying it is ‘Gorgeous’ which to me is a great accolade, and was super helpful in helping work out how to fabricate a new frame-bolt when mine was pinched by an idiot.

John Adker’s Fixed-gear Twenty
There are a few fixed-gear Twenties about - John’s has to be the meanest. Three spoke Spin wheels and minimal components make his stealth Twenty something above and beyond what anyone in Nottingham could ever have dreamed about in 1972 when this bike was first manufactured.

Bill Millam’s Fixed-gear Twenty
Another fixie, Bill’s bike sports the wonderfully ‘Heath Robinson’ Tarik-Device™ to lift up the Aheadset stem along with a nice black paint-job, silver detailing and Primo Comet tyres.

Guy Bouchard’s upgraded Twenty
Guy Bouchard put in lots of work to fit front and rear derailleurs, v-brakes, re-worked BMX forks to his Twenty, going as far as strengthening the head tube and adding bottle, rack and pump mounts. Finished with a great powder-coat job Guy’s Twenty page has lots of useful info for anyone doing-up a Twenty.

Vince’s upgraded Twenty
Since discovering the Twenty on Sheldon’s site, Vince in the Netherlands has become a big contributor to the BikeForums.net site, with an more economic FAG bottom-bracket solution, than the expensive Phil Wood Cups/Shimano UN-72 route, as well as forks advice and loads of other invaluable information.

Chris Slydel’s ultra-light Twenty
Chris’ Twenty is unusual not only for it’s full-on TT aero bars, but also because it has not compromised and sized down to more easily found 406 sized BMX tyres as I did. Keeping the 451 sized rims allows for lighter skinnier tyres and gives the bike a higher, speedier stance.

If I’ve featured your bike here and you’d really rather I hadn’t - or if it is, but some information is inaccurate, or if any links are broken please email me and I will make the appropriate amendments.
Lenny Taylor’s restored ‘Cruiser’ Twenty
Lenny’s Twenty with SRAM Spectro-7 hub gears, dynamo lights, Brooks saddle and ape-hanger bars is one of the nicest upgrades around managing to stay faithful to the original’s feel whilst being bang up to date with sensitive and practical upgrades.

Mark Ludlow’s ‘Gentleman’s’ Twenty
I don’t know much about this bike but liked it’s subtle upgrades, and honeyed-leather B-67 Brooks saddle. Beautiful commuter.

John McDaniels’ all-purpose ‘Nexus’ Twenty
Featured on Gaerlan Cycles’ site, John’s twenty features fully upgraded rims, Shimano Nexus Inter-7 hub drivetrain and suspension forks turning it into a fun and rugged all purpose machine.

Mike Whalen’s fixed-gear Twenty
Nice conversion with drop bars, a rear rack and suspension forks. Mike’s bike looks like a cracker!

And finally: Seen on eBay - a Tandem Twenty
No idea about this—wish I’d bought it when it was on eBay though! Whether it’s a custom build or rare special is anyone’s guess but it looks like a lot of fun. If I was building one from two frames I think a double folder would be a double hoot!
